(NewsBreakDaily.org) – As red (Republican) states start to end lockdowns and reopen their economies, many blue (Democratic) state governors are pushing back at a rapid pace. Most Americans learned in history class about the American Civil War, including the notion that it all “started” with the attack on Fort Sumter in April 1861. Unfortunately, the curriculums in many schools gloss over the fact that tensions ramped up over years, if not decades.
The country has seen its fair share of political tensions lately, especially given the nearly 180-degree shift ideology between Presidents Trump and Obama. The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting quarantine orders that have led to the patchwork manner of getting back to day-to-day routines, is becoming a war of words between the Left and the Right.
I wish the president would spend less time talking and tweeting and more time listening to experts like Dr. Fauci. This isn’t politics. This is life and death. https://t.co/kJb8dYhf1B

It takes no courage to tell people the only way to keep them safe is to keep them locked down, dependent on the government for survival. Instilling fear is not leadership.
We need to be honest with Americans and trust them with a smart reopening to revive our economy. pic.twitter.com/9jK2a3si61

It’s not just politicians expressing their point of view either. In this day and age of internet communications, just about everyone can post about the evils of the Progressives and their attempts to foist socialism upon America and vice versa.
Some staunchly conservative sites decry the draconian measures being imposed by Democratic governors. On the other side of the spectrum, liberal sites have gone so far as asserting President Trump has committed treason in his support of anti-lockdown protestors.
Sometimes one has to wonder if the War Between the States truly came to an effective end at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia back in 1865. The red/blue divide seems at least as wide now as at any time in the 19th century. It might even be worse since the ability to get news and opinions to the public at large is literally instantaneous.
Let’s hope historians in 2150 have a favorable report on 2020 America.
