No Demand for Republicans at Colleges

No Demand for Republicans at Colleges

( – It’s well-known that most American universities teach with a Liberal bias. But the top schools are no longer even pretending to be fair. Of the top 100 universities in the US, only two of them invited Republican commencement speakers this year. One of those was President Trump, who spoke at West Point this week.

Universities did include speakers who were elected political figures, but 98% were Democrats. Besides Trump, the only other Conservative voice being heard by college graduates this year is Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, who’ll be giving the commencement address at Miami University-Ohio.

Some Leftists who gave graduates their final lessons this year include former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Ivanka Trump was also invited to give a speech at Wichita State University Tech, but the school dropped her from the program before she could give her address. She ended up tweeting out her prepared speech. The president’s daughter was the only member of the Trump administration asked to speak anywhere.

This is a big difference from how the nation’s universities treated the Obama administration. In 2015, 15 members of Obama’s staff gave college commencement speeches.

The lack of diversity of political thought is a disgrace. We should be exposing young people to as many different voices as possible. That’s how we build a balanced society. It’s just a shame that American universities don’t understand that.
