(NewsBreakDaily.org) – Over the weekend, President Trump made a tongue-in-cheek comment about COVID-19 testing. He said he’d asked his people to slow down the testing. Cue the explosion of many heads on the Left.
Then, on Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s leading expert on infectious diseases, blew up the media’s talking point when he testified in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) said the president never asked him or anyone else on the coronavirus task force to slow down testing.
Fauci plays a key role in the administration’s response to the virus. Both sides of the aisle generally trust him. In his testimony on Tuesday, he was asked about Trump’s joke. The director responded, “It’s the opposite. We’re going to be doing more testing, not less.”
Dr. Fauci told the House committee the threat of COVID-19 right now is a mixed bag. He acknowledged the US had been hit hard with more than 2.5 million infections and over 120,000 deaths.
He also praised some parts of the country, like New York, who were able to reopen safely without seeing significant spikes in the virus. But he pointed out that other areas are now experiencing “a disturbing surge.”
Guess the Left will just have to find something else to cry about now.
